Meet Magistrate Joshua D. Adair

Magistrate Joshua D. Adair is a graduate of Covenant Christian High School and Indiana University-Bloomington. After graduating from Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, Josh began his professional career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Hendricks County before transitioning into private practice and public defender work at Hostetter Legal in Brownsburg. Josh has also served as appointed counsel in CHINS (Child in Need of Services) cases and represented clients on both family law and civil matters. Josh has served on various community boards, including the Hendricks County Bar Association, Get Real Inc., and the Indiana Athletic Board.

Josh enjoys spending his time with his wife, Heidi, and two-year-old son Graham. Josh and Heidi are expecting their second child, a baby girl, in early November 2023. Josh and his family are members of Connection Pointe Christian Church in Brownsburg and look forward to raising their family in Hendricks County.

Judicial Experience: Ready to Serve

Joshua D. Adair was appointed Magistrate Judge for the Hendricks Superior Courts in September of 2022. The Magistrate Judge position is appointed by the 5 elected Judges of the Hendricks Superior Courts. Magistrate Adair presides over a number of case types in Hendricks County including Family Law, Civil Small Claims and Evictions, Collections and Proceeding Supplemental hearings, Protective Orders, Mental Health Proceedings and covers all criminal initial hearings. In addition, Magistrate Adair presided over guardianship and paternity hearings since taking the Bench.

As Magistrate, Josh serves on the Hendricks County JRAC (Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council). The JRAC is required to promote the use of evidence-based and best practices in the areas of community-based sentencing alternatives and recidivism reduction, and to review, evaluate, and make recommendations about local practices such as community corrections and pre-trial supervision services.

Magistrate Adair has the experience and drive necessary to be ready to serve Hendricks County on Day 1.
